gryffindor head of house
It takes a certain kind of person to lead the floor-is-lava-loving, let’s-jump-in-head-first-and-sort-the-details-out-later, roaring chaos of Gryffindor. This year none other than Headmaster Trent himself stepped in and took control of the pride. Did he find himself with too much space time on his hands perhaps? Or was he perhaps worried the noisiest bunch in the school might scare some of the new professors off?
I ventured up the winding staircase to visit him in his office and ask him some questions. Hi Professor! Thanks for seeing me. So, I’m curious…were you just missing the super comfy couches and stunning views of the Gryffindor tower from your student days, or was there another reason you took on the mantle of Gryffindor Head of House? Well I do have my own comfy couches and stunning views, y'know. It's a pretty decent set up. Less loud. Less children screaming about lava floors. But to answer your question, I felt that with such an unexpected choice to resign by Sandhu and the Gryffindors acting up of late, it would be better for them to have a firmer hand on leadership for a while--as well as a familiar one. One they already knew the expectations of. Get them to calm down again and remember the common sense I've been preaching. Once that's accomplished, who knows, they may be in for a new Head of House. Were you surprised by how the Lions reacted to you stepping in after Professor Sandhu? Not entirely. I suppose you could say I expected some opposition. In the last few terms, they have been red shirting an awful lot--to the point it's become a problem and I've had to step in. That's led to some obvious friction. Was I disappointed they weren't as excited for the change as I was? Sure, but I wouldn't say "surprised". I’m guessing what with both Headmaster and Head of House duties, and all those extra detentions with a certain Bernadette Grantham, you don’t get all that much free time these days…but when you do, what do you like to get up to? Oh how right you are. If I do manage to catch a moment when Hogwarts isn't falling, I like to go out by the lake. Sometimes I'll jog along the shore, sometimes I'll take a leisurely stroll. The best time of day is--er....nevermind. There is no best time. Forget I mentioned anything. Lake. Jogging. Good times. You’ve taught us many spells this year…at least a few of which I remember. I think. Anywho…what’s your favourite defensive spell and why? Er...you do know there's a quiz this Thursday, yeah? I...I suggest maybe being a little more certain you remember the ones I've taught. We may need to cut this interview short. It would seem you've got some studying to do. Let me make this quick. The patronus charm. It's versatile and applicable in many circumstances. It deals with the problems I couldn't otherwise muggle my way out of. Right...quiz, yes. Totally prepped for it, sir. So, finally…if you were playing a game of hide and seek in Hogwarts Castle, no magic allowed, where would you go to hide? And where would you first go seek? This sounds like a trick question that will ensure I never have peace again. Only joking. Mostly. You don't have to put this part in the Yearbook. There's a good chance I may need that hide and seek and it won't do to have students showing up. BUT. My office. Why, you ask? Because the only way in is with the password. The gargoyles won't let you up. I need only not answer and you'll have no way of knowing if I'm there or not. It's easy enough to crouch under my desk to avoid being seen from the outside. |
gryffindor prefects
With both Gryffindor prefects heading into their seventh years, and therefore the added pressure of NEWTs, we wish them luck in their final year of prefecting - and in whatever they choose to do when they graduate!
